Fashion Museum

Fashion affects us all, whether we know it or not. Displays from the collection at the Fashion Museum show how this has always been the case. Real examples of contemporary and historic fashion are arranged thematically and include some of the museum’s finest examples from the 18th century to the present day. A special feature of a visit to the Fashion Museum is the opportunity to try on a replica corset or crinoline. These try-on garments are based on real examples on display in the museum galleries, and give visitors the chance to feel what it might have been like to lace yourself (or to get someone else to lace you) into a mid 19th century corset.

What will your visit include?

A free audioguide in one of seven languages, Real fashions from Georgian times to the present day, Gift shop, Children’s activity packs, Corsets and crinolines to try on, Magnificent Assembly Rooms interiors (when not in use), The finest set of 18th century chandeliers in Europe.
