Download this Leaflet for information on 29 great days out in Yorkshire
Hambleton's Herriot Country takes its name from the Hambleton Hills as well as from one of the world's best-loved writers, James Herriot. James Herriot, alias real life vet Alf Wight, lived and worked in the market town of Thirsk for more than 50 years and it was from this quiet corner of North Yorkshire that he drew inspiration for his tales of veterinary life. Herriot Country is an ideal location for a short break with quality accommodation, fascinating attractions and a great choice of restaurants.
The area is also well located for exploring the Moors and Dales of North Yorkshire as well as the historic city of York. A warm welcome awaits ' attractive market towns, historic houses, family attractions, locally produced food and drink, craft centres, agricultural shows and activities for all ages all wrapped up in true Yorkshire hospitality. See individual attractions on this leaflet for relevant facilities.
